technical specifications
This
page contains information for those sending digital files to us and explains
the precise format/saving information to ensure a successful output.
Images should be sent as either JPEG (.jpg) or TIFF (.tif) files with no compression applied, ie JPEG maximum file size, TIFF no LZW, ZIP or JPG options selected. Other files for printing are best sent in either a PDF or EPS format.
Files are best sent on CD-ROM (or DVD) as they can be saved/sent at full size without any loss of quality. If your requirements are urgent, files may be sent by email - in which case apply as little compression as possible to reduce the file to a manageable size. You may find that in moving the slider (in Photoshop's JPEG save dialog) to just 9 or 10 will have a significant effect on the file size without being too detrimental to the quality of the image.
Files supplied in other formats will require us to pre-process them and
you may be charged for the extra labour involved. Text files are acceptable
in most common formats, for eaxample: Microsoft Word, AppleWorks, Rich
Text Format, etc. DTP files need to be "Collected for Output"
in QuarkXpress or "Packaged" in Adobe InDesign, other non-standard
formats such as Serif PagePlus and Microsoft Publisher are best exported
as PDFs for printing.
Notes:
• Colourspace = sRGB (sRGB IEC61966-2.1)
