saving files...

When working in Photoshop (or other image editing applications) and then saving your files for submission to us, always try to preserve as much original information as possible. All files should be at 300 dpi and at finished size wherever possible.

Saving JPEGS

Suggested JPEG saving options

Avoid repeatedly saving a file in JPEG format as the image will suffer and avoid overcompressing the file when saving you image.

Use the JPG Format Option - Baseline Optimized (the Baseline "Standard" is also perfectly usable but never save using the Progressive option) and keep the Quality slider fully right if images are to be put onto CD/DVD.

If sending files in by email use the slider to reduce the file to a more reasonable size for transmission, but be careful anything lower than a "9" will suffer and the compression effects such as "squaring" and "artefacting" will become increasingly obvious in your finished prints.
